After studying Wikis this week, I have found very useful this tool. I am in a committee (as the Espanol en Accion), it is great to have a wiki that all the members can post, edit, add, things on it and we can keep inform instead of sending email back and forth. It is really efficient. It is really cooperative tool for project at the office project, or even college team groups.
I almost dare to say that the intranet at the library is in way a sort of wiki sense, I mean that is a collaborative and keep people informed what is going on.

It is very good that is not necesary to be "tech savvy"
I found excellent the idea to add the wiki functionality to the catalog that allows patrons post their comments, ratings or synposes about any book. so others can see how good or not good could be a book. Like Amazon.com
there are some application for the libraries that can be useful for the librarians, like wiki of ALA, they can share information regarding to research guides, training for librarians. The librarian can see places to go, or restaurant to go, if they are new in the area.
Something that I am not sure if having a wiki, people are ready to accept that somebody else can edit their content.
